The Mix Feeding Kitchen - Who we Serve
At the Mix Feeding Kitchen, powered by Missional Wisdom Foundation, the communities we serve are so diverse from the homeless, nameless, and sometimes forgotten living on the streets of Dallas to the refugee women from war-torn countries seeking to learn how to make a living in a country that may not accept their professional credentials. Our mentoring and offering a kitchen for these women have given them an opportunity to pivot and use their cooking skills that they have honed in the kitchen for their families and loved ones, and now provide a living to support their families through catering with a cause. Or is it that child in that food insecure community who has a meal ready to eat and does not worry about whether they will have food for dinner.
How does this all work?
Rescued food that would otherwise be discarded, comes into the kitchen through our current partners that distribute food to the homeless and forgotten. Once the food is received and stored. Chef Rhonda gets to play “mystery basket” as she calls it. She is then challenged to create repurposed meals from what’s donated. After a menu is created the Chef then shops for the other food items needed to complete the dish, from monies donated by friends and neighbors. Since September of 2022 Chef has prepared meals for about 1200+ monthly for our partner Noble Life Ministries. We have a new partner Peer to Peer Whole Wellness that receives meals to feed 800+ monthly. We are continuing to accept new partnerships.
We open doors for people to get involved and give back with their most valuable asset, their time. We educate them on what it takes to rescue food and then repurpose it into nutritious meals to feed thousands of people and have a huge impact on our carbon footprint. We are addressing a need to feed the hungry, by taking what would become waste in our landfills and turning it into love on a plate. We are empowering others to not only see the forgotten but actually do something about it one meal at a time. Besides your time, the other ways you can help is through your generous monetary donations or shop for items through our Amazon Wishlist.
